Group Tours

The Mast General Store is always happy to share our history and hospitality with our guests and friends who arrive in groups small and large.

As a group leader, we know your success depends on how much fun and engagement your passengers have on the trip. Our goal is to provide a pleasant — and historic — shopping experience.

Mast Store is different than any other shopping stop along your journey, and we'll need your help to ensure we are ready to host your group. By calling ahead for a reservation, we will be staffed appropriately.

What happens when you arrive?

The following is only available to those who call ahead to make reservations:

  • A Mast Store representative will greet your group and welcome you to the store.
  • Some locations have Scavenger Hunt brochures available. These tours of the store are great for any age and showcase bits of history and memorabilia throughout the location.
  • We are happy to treat the driver and the escort to a Mast Store Country Lunch (an RC Cola and a MoonPie) or a bottled water.
Here are the points to remember:
  • Our buildings are old and of a historic nature, therefore they may be somewhat less accommodating for people who have limited mobility. Most locations are at least two levels, and only a few have elevators available. We are always happy to bring items from other floors if people would like to see them.
  • There may be times where we cannot accommodate your group — like busy weekends when our locations are at capacity with guests arriving in their own personal vehicles.
  • Please call the location you wish to visit at least two weeks prior to your arrival. We will be happy to help with suggestions for next stops, meal opportunities, motor coach parking locations — or who to contact, etc.
  • If you are running behind schedule, please call to let us know.
  • The Original Store and Annex in Valle Crucis are two separate locations 2/10 mile apart. It is walkable, but there is not a sidewalk between the two. Many groups visit both stores. The Original Store has the pot-bellied stove and post office, while the Annex has the Candy Barrel and outdoor department.
